Newsletter - April 2011

CBWelcome to the April edition of our newsletter. I'm sure you don't need reminding that it is Mother's Day this Sunday, and I hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing day. To mark the day, we're featuring an excerpt from my book, Good Mother, Bad Mother which considers what makes a good mother. I know that many mothers today feel pressured to try to keep up with what they imagine others must be doing, and my book extract aims to help you to feel more confident about your own abilities.

Mother's Day is celebrated in some way in most countries, but it's not always on the same day or in exactly the same fashion. We've taken a look at Mother's Day around the world, and explain when and how mothers across the globe will be enjoying their special day.

This month we are featuring the charity Child In Need India (CINI) which improves the lives of hundreds of thousands of children and their families. The charity believes that the more support a mother gets, the better the outcome emotionally and physically for the child. I passionately believe in the charity's work and I hope that you will find our feature both interesting and uplifting.

Later this month, we'll be celebrating Easter, and those of you with toddlers and older children may want to find some ways to enjoy this time of year with your family that don't involve a chocolate overload. We've put together some great Easter craft activity ideas, with lots of suggestions for different ways your children can have fun decorating their own Easter eggs.

With the Easter holidays approaching, there is no better time to look at the delicious range of baby meals offered by So Baby Organics. Each and every meal is hand prepared, just as you would at home. They only ever use the finest locally sourced 100% organic ingredients too, so no hidden nasties, just pure delicious ingredients packed full of goodness. So Baby Organics will deliver your order straight to your door, and its also worth knowing that they offer a fantastic Holiday Pack service too, perfect for your family holidays either in the UK or abroad.

Our health feature for April focuses on conjunctivitis, an eye infection which is common amongst young children and babies. We run through the signs and symptoms which could suggest that your child has conjunctivitis, and look at what action you should take.

Our featured book this month is 101 Things to Do Before You're Five, which takes an amusing look at what pre-school children can get up to. It aims to guide babies and grown-ups through the joys of the first five years, and will make you laugh as you recognise some of the things your own children do - from taking an irrational dislike to family members to sticking peas up their noses or sandwiches in the DVD player!

In our members only section, our regular Life Coach Maria Sweetman deals with the way friendships can change when you have children and a close friend doesn't, and she gives advice on how best to handle this. Our baby case study looks at five-month-old Freddy and Isabella who were waking a lot at night due to wrong sleep associations, whilst our toddler case study deals with Sarah, aged 23 months, who was not sleeping well after moving from her cot to a bed. Finally, our popular Ask a Mum section features your advice on whether it's a good idea to send a toddler to nursery five days a week, your answers to a mother's concerns as to whether her toddler is eating too much and your tips on what do when potty training seems to run into trouble at nursery.

Finally, we have had such positive feedback on easyblinds, with quite a number of you taking advantage of March's offer.  We are delighted to let you know that easyblinds are extending the 10% discount for the month of April.

Best wishes to you all for a happy month ahead.
